An ancient art and tradition, Tai Chi is an ancient exercise which embodies China’s most profound concepts and principles of health and movement. It offers true harmony between body and mind.
Based on softness and awareness instead of force and resistance, Tai Chi has been recognized for centuries as a method of self-cultivation and an unexcelled form of self defense.
Tai chi movements are widely acknowledged to help calm the emotions, focus the mind, and strengthen the immune system. Practiced at a slow and even speed, tai chi promotes relaxation, straight posture, and balance. In a very real sense, tai chi helps us to stay younger as we grow older, thus making an outstanding contribution to our overall health and well-being.
'Qi' is related to Energy & Life Force and 'Gong' means ability and skill. Together, 'QiGong' is to have skill in the doing something with this life force.
To learn and practice QiGong is to discover something we have always been surrounded with but due to our lifestyles, we have never realized and experienced its existence. QiGong is definitely made up and is part of ‘movement’ but is not entirely just that. It is not something that can be conceptualized. To experience and feel what is the Qi, the energy. Once you begin to practice and start to feel this, you notice that your mind becomes calm, there’s an increase in the sensitivity and awareness to yourself and also for your surroundings. All becomes more refined. This experience, realization and art really have no exact description in words.
There are three pillars in QiGong: physical, breathing and mental state/intention. The physical movement, the second aspect is the way and how you are breathing and how you are using this to support the physical movement and the third is the intention. What is your mind doing during the exercise?
Improve that state of your body and learn to listen to your body. Refinement: obtain another depth of understanding. To pay more attention to something/ body, breathing, relationship with your body, obtain and observe with more depth. Increase your possibilities of understanding, observation and management.
If you want to control, regulate and adjust yourself to a better self, QiGong is a very good method to help you along the way.
