Meeting Reco Price a.k.a. McSupernatural, in London

One of the most exciting opportunities travel has to offer, is the potential to meet new people anytime, anywhere! I was standing outside the Hotel foyer when I saw a gentleman I had spotted the previous evening outside the hotel lifts. He was impossible to miss. I had felt drawn to his presence and magnetic energy. It reminded me of the kind of power of presence William Jongeneel Brand had described at Judymay’s Elevated Women Event! I thought to myself, “This man is definitely doing something good in the world because I can sense his positive energy fill the room!”

When I saw him the next morning again ‘coincidentally’ (by the way there is no such thing as coincidence), I felt compelled to introduce myself, as I hadn’t plucked up the courage to introduce myself the previous evening and had regretted that. I love meeting creatives, expanding my network, learning from people, so that I can grow in knowledge and experience and better serve myself and my clients.

Although I was nursing a very bad cold, I smiled and introduced myself. He introduced himself as Reco Price or ‘MC Supernatural’, which is his stage name. It turned out, as I Googled him later on, that MC Supernatural is an American Rapper who has guest starred with other artists such as will.i.am in the album Must B 21, with Public Enemy, DJ Honda and Grandmaster Flash. He landed his own Radio show on 98.7 Kiss-FM and has taken part in documentary films such as Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme (2000). His music has made it onto video games and in 2005 he had produced an album called S.P.I.T. (Spiritual Poetry Ignites Thought).

What was interesting is that he was in London not to perform at a concert, but to carry out music workshops of a therapeutic nature for teenagers. In an interview I found online he once said, “My definition of a freestyle is coming from the deepest realms of improvisational skills… Freestyle is the highest form of expression through one’s self”.

What I find when I meet special souls like MC Supernatural is that they use their success and fame for personal growth (theirs and others) and contribution to the world. Their goals reach beyond themselves to something greater; and their generosity of spirit means they are humble and open to be of service, to lift others up, educate, inspire and empower. They are successful not because of their fame and financial gains but moreover because of the feeling of fulfilment that comes when you live and work with focused purpose in alignment with your soul’s purpose.

With the high numbers of families in breakdown all over the globe, music workshops such as MC Supernatural’s are like lifeboats; literally having the power to save teenagers from drowning in the anxiety, stress, depression and anger that may result from toxic home environments, particularly where there is constant conflict, abuse and/ or violence. These kinds of workshops allow as he says, for Self- expression. In my professional experience, the Self-expression of targets of domestic abuse, both in adults and in children, is often suppressed, leading to pain and trauma which they carry forward unless there is an intervention such as this kind of experience.

MC Supernatural asked what I was passionate about. I excitedly described the Holistic approach I have developed for my Law Practice, for the benefit of my clients and their children and families. I was very pleased to share that the Arts have been on Amber Law's website as healing and empowering tools for my clients and website visitors, since it was established in March 2013. I spoke of the healing work of my friends and collaborators of Amber Law: Marie Fox who conducts Art as Therapy workshops and Surianne Dalmedo who works with Music as Therapy.

It was a spontaneous and beautiful exchange. MC Supernatural gave me his contact details and suggested that we stay in touch for possible future collaborations.

Life is so full of these serendipitous moments, and they are like receiving gifts from the universe, if only you are open to receive them, you break past your comfort zone and find the courage to smile and simply say ‘hi’!
